What We Do
We identify new manufacturing methods and composite formulas that reduce the cost of manufacturing. Our business model is to collaborate with manufacturers to expand their portfolio of composite materials with a focus on abundantly available cellulosic fibers.
Fibers
Much attention in composites has focused recently on the hot topic of carbon fibers. These composites result in great products, but most applications cannot tolerate the jump in cost. We realize the value of underappreciated agricultural waste. Cellulosic fibers offer a very low cost raw material. This creates value.
Composites
A key element of composites is their synergistic performance. Improved properties allow for weight reduction and increased lifespan. Most of our composites are flat stock, but curved parts are possible to develop too. All forms, however, result in a decrease in cost and a jump in value.
Resins
Manufacturers tend to use traditional resins, often out of habit and cost. Phenol formaldehyde (and other formaldehyde resins) have been a workhorse, but now that formaldehyde has been classified as a carcinogen, it’s past time to convert to alternative chemistries to bind fibers. We identify resin systems that are economical yet effective and safe for workers and consumers.
